Single-Player Puzzle / Action
Chest Quest is a sokoban-inspired puzzle game built around a hexagonal grid system, offering a fresh spatial twist on the traditional genre. Featuring 13 interconnected systems, the game blends classic block-pushing puzzle mechanics with combat, giving players more agency and tension than a typical sokoban title.
A key mechanic — kicking — was deconstructed and reimagined from Bomberman, but instead of simply displacing objects, it spawns zombies, introducing an unpredictable combat threat directly tied to the player's own actions. This forces players to weigh the risk of using the mechanic against the puzzle-solving benefits it provides, adding a layer of tension uncommon in traditional sokoban design.
Health and stamina systems, inspired by For the King, further reinforce this risk-versus-reward loop, requiring players to manage resources carefully as they balance puzzle progress against the threats they generate.
